Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Adelyn K. Scott, affectionately known as "Addie," who left us peacefully on October 10, 2025, just one day shy of her 83rd birthday.

Born on October 11, 1942, Addie grew up near Elyria, Kansas, and attended the country school there. Her family later moved to Newton, Kansas, where she graduated from Newton High School.

Throughout her career, Addie worked as an accountant, secretary, and office manager. She was known for her professionalism, reliability, and genuine warmth—qualities that earned her the admiration of colleagues and the enduring friendship of many.

In 2019, Addie moved to Denton Village (formerly Good Samaritan) in Denton, Texas, where she quickly formed new friendships. She embraced community life, regularly playing Mahjong and Mexican Train with friends, attending exercise classes, and cherishing time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Addie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Scott of Larned, Kansas. She is survived by her brother, Ronald Waltner of New Palestine, Indiana; her son, Richard (Rick) Guhr and his wife Carla of Sanger, Texas; her grandchildren: Chase Guhr (Kristin) of North Richland Hills, TX; Chanie Garriott (Jared) of Tioga, TX; Beau Kobel (Stefani) of Haltom City, TX; and Jessica Johnson (Brian) of Oak Point, TX. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, all residing in the North Texas area, along with many other dear family members and friends who will miss her deeply.

A celebration of Addie's life will be held at 1:00pm on October 16th at the Denton Village Chapel , 2500 Hinkle Dr, Denton, TX. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and honor a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society , a cause that was close to Addie's heart.

Addie will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and spirited presence. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy lives on through the love she gave and the lives she touched.
