Obituary

Rev. Albert Edward Davidson died of natural causes at the age of 98.  He married Catheryne (Chisum) Davidson on August 13, 1944 and is survived by his wife, four children, eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.  The couple resided in Krum, Texas for the past several years, being cared for by their daughter, Zane Davidson.

Rev. and Mrs. Davidson's children are Donovan Davidson, Zane Davidson, Timothy Davidson and Jeanne Hathaway.  His grandchildren are Phillip McCulley; Julie Hathaway; Jan Williams; Heather Hilleman; Culley Lichtenberg; Ann Byron Guditis; Zachary Davidson; and Corey Davidson.  His great grandchildren are Bobby and Tyler Hilleman; Savannah and Penn Lichtenberg; and Whitley and Noah Guditis.  Albert was the last surviving sibling of eight children of Claude and Annie Davidson.

Rev. Davidson began his Christian ministry, in a real sense, after his conversion at the age of 12.  He immediately began witnessing to his four brothers and they also were saved, three of whom served as deacons through their lives and one as a foreign missionary.  Albert was ordained as a Southern Baptist minister in 1943 and served for decades as a pastor, home missionary, evangelist, hospital chaplain, and mentor of other ministers.

Graduating from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1945, Rev. Davidson was an interim pastor at several churches in Oklahoma as a student and began serving as an evangelist in revival meetings throughout the Midwest during his college years and when serving full time as a pastor.  He established churches in Kansas as a home missionary in Arkansas City (1946-1951) and Stockton (1951-1953).  He was pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, Parsons, Kansas (1953-1962); Empire Baptist Church, Joplin, Missouri (1962-1972); First Baptist Church, Belle, Missouri (1972-1977); associate pastor while recuperating from surgery at First Baptist Church, The Colony, Texas (1977-1978); Oliver Baptist Church, Ocala, Florida (1978-1985) and established a mission at Anthony, Florida during retirement before moving to Texas.  He served many healthcare facilities as a chaplain throughout his ministry and into retirement, including Good Samaritan and Lake Forest in Denton, Texas.  Rev. Davidson also served on State and regional boards for the Southern Baptist Convention in Kansas and Missouri (1946-1972).

Albert Edward Davidson was known by friends and family alike as a loving and kind man and servant of God.  He was a much loved and admired husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.   Everyone who met him recognized his strength of character, enjoyment of life, and the way he shared his Christian values in a spirit of love.  "Because he loves me, says the Lord...with long life will I honor him and show him my salvation" (Psalms 91:14-16)

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 20, 2017 at the New Life First Baptist Church of Krum with Rev. Jay Smith and Rev. Ed Gatlin officiating.  Burial will follow at Jackson Cemetery in Krum.  Pallbearers will be, Tim, Donovan, Zach and Corey Davidson, Phillip McCulley and Leo Loran.
