IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Albert Richard
Hammons
June 1, 1930 – February 9, 2017
Albert Richard Hammons, 86, of Denton passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017 at his home. Albert was born June 1, 1930 in Sanger, Texas to Charles and Agnes Hammons. He was married to the late Peggy Hammons and worked as an electrician.
Albert worked all his early life as a cowboy, and rodeo. He lived with the Sioux tribe in South Dakota and worked cattle. They gave him the name "Yellow Boots". He is still known as that in SD.
In the 1950's he came back to Texas, and met Peggy. They married and he opened Albert's Electric. He worked for 23 years. During this time he would go to Colorado and guide on horse back on trails. Albert then became an artist, and worked in bronze sculpture. He loved to tell stories, and did so at menu elementary schools about the cowboy way of life. He never let anything get him down. All his nieces and nephews thought he was bigger than life.
Albert is survived by his children son, Guy Hammons, daughter, Gayla Hammons and sister Bertha Mitchell.
Albert is preceded in death by his wife Peggy, sister, Joyce, brother, Leon and his parents, Charles and Agnes Hammons.
Visitation for Albert is scheduled for Tuesday, February 14, 2017 from 6-8 at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Denton with interment immediately following at Tyson Cemetery.
