IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Albert Edward
Sumberaz
February 21, 1949 – January 2, 2020
Albert Edward Sumberaz, 70, passed away on January 2, 2020 in Denton, Texas after a long illness. He was born in Bronx, New York on February 21, 1949.
Albert was a kind, caring, generous man who loved to laugh and have a good time. During his doctor visits and chemo treatments he would make jokes with the nurses while humming a tune down the halls.
He retired a Crew Chief from American Airlines in 2012 after 30 years. Just as he was ready to retire, his battle with cancer began, and he fought to live until the very end. He was a fighter! Al, as they called him at AA, was much loved by his co-workers.
Albert graduated in 1967 from William Taft High School in the Bronx, New York, and then joined the Army shortly after that and served 2 Years. In 1980, he relocated to Texas from New York, and started his career with American Airlines.
When he retired in 2012, he built a beautiful home in the Philippines and planned to retire there. Unfortunately, he never got the opportunity to do so.
He loved dogs, enjoyed watching football (Giants Fan), visiting casinos and in the recent years enjoyed watching the old western, sci-fi and action movies. He and his daughter Danelle would watch movies together and when it came to football his rival team in the house was his wife's team (the Cowboys) and they would have fun bickering about the games.
He is survived by his wife, Nelvi Sumberaz of Denton, daughter, Danelle Sumberaz, also of Denton, one sister, Julia Ramirez of Hurst, Texas and one brother, John Sumberaz of North Richland Hills, Texas. He had 3 nephews, Derek Ramirez (Born on his birthday 2/21) Eric Ramirez and Steve Sumberaz, a niece, Carly Stanley, and 3 great nephews, Parker Ramirez, Miles Ramirez and Mason Sumberaz, all whom he loved dearly. His extended Novela family in the Philippines also loved him dearly and will miss him very much!
He is preceded in death by his mother Arnella Sumberaz and father Rudolph Sumberaz and grandparents John and Julia Sumberaz.
Albert was a warrior in the fight for his life, but now he is out of pain and at peace.
A memorial service will be held at Noah's Event Venue in Fort Worth, Texas on Sunday, January 19, 2020 from 3-7:00 P.M.
