Alice Pockrus, 96, of Denton passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in Denton. She was born December 2, 1918 in Denton County to Calip Bart and Mary Stella Gregory Blagg. She married H.W. "Pete" Pockrus on October 13, 1940. He preceded her in death. She was retired as a bookkeeper, was a member of Glory of Zion Church, had been very active in PTA and instrumental in clearing the Denton Trade Square, served many years as Secretary/Treasurer for Shiloh Cemetery and a director of entertainment at Senior Citizen Center.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at DeBerry Funeral Directors. A memorial service will be Monday, January 26, 2015 at 10:30 AM at Glory of Zion at Global Spheres in Corinth with Dr. Robert Heidler officiating.
Alice is survived by her son, Dennis Pockrus and wife Elizabeth, daughter, Anita Anderson and husband Don; grandchildren: Erin Cantu and husband Al, Kena Gandy and husband Scott, Tad Riney and wife Tera; great grandchildren, Al Cantu III, Dawson and Kinsey Gandy, Gracie and Tate Riney. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, grandson, Ross David Pockrus and great grandson, Andrew Cantu.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Friends of The Family or Glory of Zion Prayer Garden.
