Allen Gustave Grundstrom, 80, of Denton, Texas passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. Allen (Al) was born on November 20, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to Stanley Gustave and Mary Florine (Gorman) Grundstrom.

He was raised in Chicago and attended Morgan Park Military Academy. He graduated from Bradley University as an Engineer. Al married the love of his life Carol Janice Johnson in Flossmoor, Illinois on July 25, 1959. For 27 years he worked in Houston, Texas in the oil and gas industry.

Al waged a difficult battle against a rare blood disorder for several years. Al and Carol have enjoyed life at Robson Ranch since 2003 when they moved from Houston. He was known for his work organizing the mentoring program at Borman Elementary School, for organizing the yearly trips to Denton high school football games and enjoyed Rough Riders baseball games. Al loved sports, he played softball and was one of the original picklball players at Robson who taped the first courts in the gym and played until health issues took him off the courts.

Al is survived by his wife Carol; son; Scott Grundstrom; son; Glenn Grundstrom and his wife Teresa; grandchildren, Erik, Bonnie, Michelle, Courtney, Allison, and Carter; sister, Lynn Lang and her husband Paul.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas.
