Alpha "Butch" Yarbrough III, 65, of Denton passed away on August 20, 2016 in Denton, Texas. He was born on November 17, 1950 to Alpha Yarbrough Jr. and Helen (Oswalt) Yarbrough in Pilot Point, Texas.

He graduated from Denton High School in 1969 and married Sherry Favors on July 25, 1970. Following high school he went to Ranger Jr. College on a baseball scholarship. He began his management career in retail clothing at Russell's Department Store. He ended his career working as an outside salesman in the wholesale building materials industry at Foxworth Galbraith Company. He enjoyed a lifelong career in management and sales because he cared about helping people any way he could.

Butch enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, baseball and football. In his early adult years, you would find him on a football field as a referee for local high school football teams. Later in his life, you would need to look for him at a local high school game on a Friday or Saturday night. The Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers were his teams, and he loved watching them on TV but also in person every chance he got. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren and loved them all dearly. Most importantly he loved his high school sweetheart and lifelong wife, Sherry. They just celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary prior to his going home to be with the Lord. Butch will be missed tremendously by all his friends and family, but we look forward to the day we will see him again!

He is survived by his wife, Sherry of Denton, son, John "J.D." Yarbrough of Murphy, Texas; daughter, Shelly Renee Allen Smith, of Providence Village; brother, David Yarbrough, of Denton and two grandchildren, Savana Renee (Allen) King of Denton and Taylor Wayne Yarbrough of Murphy, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother and father.

The family will receive friends at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas on Thursday, August 25, from 6-8 PM. Services will be held in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors on Friday, August 26, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
