In Loving Memory of Alton "Al" M. Coe, Jr.

Alton "Al" M. Coe, Jr., 72, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on October 25, 1953, in Lowville, New York, Al was the son of Alton M. Coe, Sr. and Joyce Curtis Coe. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, enlisting on October 30, 1972, and honorably serving until his discharge on October 29, 1978. His dedication to his country reflected the strength, integrity, and character that defined his life.

Al is survived by his best friend and the love of his life, Jeri Coe; his daughter, Heather Coe; his son, Alton M. Coe III ("AJ"), and daughter-in-law, Brittni; his bonus son, Christopher Smith; his granddaughter, Makenzie (and Layten); his grandson, Dillon (and Leanna) His brothers Michael (Cathy) Coe, Larry (Valerie) Coe and Eric (Helen) Coe and sisters Julie Coe, Laurie Coe and his Uncle Donald Gydesen and Tammy Thayer, the mother of his children.

He also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were touched by his kindness, laughter, and unwavering love.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alton M. Coe, Sr.; his mother, Joyce Curtis Coe; and his brother, Emory Curtis Coe.

Al found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved cooking for those he cared about, watching movies, bowling, reading books and comics, listening to music, solving crossword puzzles, and enjoying games of Scrabble and Yahtzee. Sundays were often spent cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers. Above all, Al had an incredible sense of humor. He had a gift for making people laugh, and even throughout his illness, he continued to bring smiles to those around him with his wit and warmth.

Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that his love, laughter, and countless memories will remain with us forever. His legacy of kindness, resilience, and devotion to his family will continue to live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Al's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
