Obituary

Alvin Don Smith, 74 of The Colony, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 4, 2014. He was born on February 10, 1939 in Amarillo, Texas to Henry Alvin and Geneva Kirkland Smith. His parents divorced soon after his birth, and he was raised by his mother and step-father, Ted Frederick.

Don was a member of the Central Park Baptist Church. During his career, he was employed by the City of Denton and the City of Farmers Branch. He retired from the City of Addison as the Supervisor of Landscaping.

Don was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy Duggan, his parents, and his step-father. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Laura Smith; son, Steve Smith (The Colony, Texas); sisters, Elizabeth Petersen and husband Les (Krum, Texas), Linda Clark and husband John (Highland, California), and Paula Kim (Ceres, California); brothers, Andy Smith and wife Janet (Corona, California) and Randy Smith (Florida); five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family will be at DeBerry Funeral Directors Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 pm for visitation. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at l0:00 am in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
