Alvin Doyle Smith, 79, of Denton passed away Sunday, December 7, 2014 at his residence. He was born August 31, 1935 in Denton to Glenn and Ruby Bishop Smith. He served in the Korean War. He married Ruth Corbell on December 17, 1988 in Las Vegas, NV. He was a member of Willowwood Church of the Nazarene.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 6 – 8 pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral service will be Friday, December 12, 2014 at 10:00 am at Willowwod Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Mark Ramsey and Rev. Bruce Chamberlain. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Smith of Denton; children, Debbie Roberts and Melody Prowley, children's mother, Amelia Smith, Rena Taylor of Krum, Anthony Doyle Smith and John Glenn Smith; sister, Ann Waggoner; brothers, Dan Smith and Butch Smith; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Dottie Smith, sisters, Carolyn Brown and Pearl Smith Vogt and brother, Floyd Smith.
