Amilkar "Mickey" Hernandez, age 50, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

Mickey was born on March 6, 1976, to Alberto and Susana Hernandez in Veracruz, Mexico. He was one of three children, alongside his sister Arisbeth and his brother Issai.

Mickey dedicated over 22 years to production at TetraPak, where he gained knowledge, built experience, and formed lasting friendships. He was highly respected by his coworkers, many of whom called him "Boss" — a title he earned through character, not position. That same quiet leadership carried into his faith, as a certified minister who faithfully served across many communities, leaving an impression wherever he went.

Yet it was in music and mentorship where Mickey's heart truly came alive.

Music was one of Mickey's greatest passions. He was a self-taught musician who could both read music and play by ear, beginning with bass guitar before mastering guitar, drums, and piano. He was also gifted with a remarkable voice. Whatever Mickey loved, he wanted to share — and so he became a music coach, a ministry coach, and a basketball coach. Coaching naturally led to mentorship, and Mickey poured into the lives of many. He also took great joy in recording family and friends in his in-home music studio.

Beyond his many gifts, Mickey was passionate about learning and never stopped growing. He had a childlike love for food and going out to eat, and he carried both a serious side and a silly side — with very little in between. He formed his own opinions, set his own trends, and never conformed to the status quo. He was a hard worker who provided diligently for his family, and a skilled entrepreneur who always found a way. He carried a dream to honor his father's sacrifices and could clearly see the steps to make that dream a reality.

Mickey will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. He was truly one of a kind, and he left a tremendous legacy that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.

Mickey is preceded in death by his father, Alberto Hernandez; his grandparents, Moises and Albertina Hernandez, and Cecilio Chavez; and his uncles Armando and Alejandro Chavez and Ricardo Hernandez, who first inspired his love of music.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Marla Rodriguez; his children, Luke and Kamila; and his mother, Susana Hernandez. Also surviving him are his in-laws, Max and Gladys Rodriguez; his sister, Arisbeth Saucedo, and her husband Josue, of Denton; his brother, Issai Hernandez, of Lewisville; his brothers-in-law, Andy Rodriguez of Krum, and Daniel Rodriguez and his wife Samantha, of Denton; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
