Ann Elizabeth (Russell) Johnson, 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Denton, TX on October 22, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on January 31, 1935 in Brookings, South Dakota to John Edward Russell and Alice Mae (Larsen) Russell.

Ann grew up in Anoka, MN, and graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN in 1957.  On August 17, 1957, Ann married Alden L. Johnson, and together they began their careers in public service.  Ann served for many years as a secretary in the public school system and retired from her role at Fred Moore Middle School in Anoka, MN in December of 1993. Upon retirement, Ann and Alden spent winter months in the Mesa, AZ area for several years, while enjoying being close to friends, family and the lakes of Minnesota each summer.   Following Alden's passing, Ann moved to Arizona, and then later moved to Denton, TX to be closer to family.  Ann will long be remembered as a devoted, kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, companion, classmate, neighbor, friend and lover of dogs, dancing and get-togethers with family and friends.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Haug, and her husband John of Minnetrista, MN; her son, Lowell Johnson and his wife Karen of Coppell, TX; grandchildren, Benjamin Haug, Joshua Haug, Alex Johnson and Christine Johnson; and her longtime companion, William "Bill" Austin.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Alden, and by her mother and father.
