You Will Always be Remembered

Anthony James David, Sr., of Denton, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on March 15, 2025. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 21, 1941, to Charles and Harriett David.

Anthony served two years in the military before marrying Mary Ellen, wife of 60 years. He worked for the City of Detroit as a Court Officer. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed working outside on his property in Metamora, Michigan. He loved spending time with family and teaching his grandchildren to play and appreciate sports (golf, baseball, football). His great-grandchildren's visits brought him tremendous joy. He was an excellent storyteller with a fantastic sense of humor and brought smiles to everyone, even the strangers he encountered. His life was a beautiful example of how to live and love others.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen David, of Denton, Texas; daughters Natalie Paulus and her husband Greg of Denton, Amanda Scott and her husband Jacob of Ft. Worth and son Anthony James David, Jr., and his wife Rhoda of Copperas Cove, Tx.; brothers Bill David, Jack David, and Michael David; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Betty Wickersham, Nancy Fodell, and Patricia David.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., with a rosary beginning at 6:00 P.M., on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at DeBerry Funeral Directors.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at St. John Paul II Catholic Church in Denton, Texas.

Mr. David will be laid to rest at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
