Arla Lynn Tharp, 75, of Ponder, passed away Friday, November 22, 2019 in Denton. She was born in Broken Bow, Oklahoma to Monk and Erma Burns on December 31, 1943. Arla graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1962. She married Melvin Tharp in 1976. She loved her friends and family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them.  She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Lloyd Burns and Burl Burns and sisters Nelda Taylor and Patsy Williams.

Arla is survived by daughter Shelly Steele and husband Patrick of Ponder, Texas, and daughter Tammy Lasley and husband Kevin of Borger, Texas.  She is also survived by grandchildren Savanna and Ross Powell, Jayden and Landen Lasley, great-granddaughter Ginny Dare Powell, and many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 W. University Drive, Denton, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon at Roselawn Memorial Park, 3801 Roselawn Drive, Denton, Texas.
