Arthur Charles Behrens, longtime, well-respected resident of Denton, Texas, slipped away peacefully in his sleep on January 12, 2026.
Art was born on February 10, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, to Alfred William Behrens and Nora Nell (Patton) Behrens. After graduating from Hillcrest High School, he went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from North Texas State University.
He began what would become a distinguished and successful career of over 55 years in the Building Specialties industry, eventually becoming President and Co-Owner of B & W Sales.
Art was an avid fisherman, hunter, and firearms enthusiast and was an NRA Rifle, Pistol, and Shotgun Instructor as well as a Texas Parks and Wildlife Hunter Safety Instructor, and taught Concealed Handgun Licensing classes for many years. He was a founding and lifelong member of the North Texas Shooters Association. In his spare time, he served in the Denton Police Reserve for 43 years, retiring as Reserve Chief.
In retirement, he became a Licensed Federal Firearms Dealer, owning and operating A. C. Behrens Sporting Equipment.
He’s survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Sandy. Three children, Diana (Andy) Ingram, of Keller, TX, Michael (Laura) Behrens of Denton, TX, and Layne (Craig) Menn, of San Francisco, CA. Three grandchildren, Katherine Behrens, of Denton, TX, and Jack and Ryan Menn, of San Francisco, CA., as well as 2 beloved dogs, Stony and Bella.
