Arthur (Art) S. Wiley, D.O. was born on June 22, 1926, to Arthur T. and Larue Wiley in Linden, Texas  and passed away peacefully at his home in Denton, Texas surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, September 25, 2021.

Art is survived by his wife Judy, who for 68 years was his best friend and partner in crime. He is also survived by his son, Jim (Sylvia) of Justin, Texas; daughter, Leigh Anne Wiley Prukop of Denton, Texas; daughter-in-law, Sherri Wiley of Forestburg, Texas; grandchildren, Brandy Horton (Shane) of Weatherford, Texas; Trevor Prukop (Eva Stack) of Kingsville, Texas; Lauren Prukop of Kingsville, Texas and three great grandchildren, Laney and Presley Horton and Jeanette Prukop.

Art is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur T. and Larue Wiley; brother Harold Wiley; sister Dorothy Fazio; his sons Dave and Steve and granddaughter Caitlynn Prukop. Also, lifelong friends, Boots and Billye Early of Linden, Texas; Allie and Bess Miller of Denton, Texas; and Dale and Norma Hughes of Denton, Texas.

His military service began when he was drafted into the United States Navy at age 18 in 1944 as a hospital apprentice in World War II, stationed  on a hospital ship. He was called back to serve in the Korean War and was again stationed aboard a hospital ship.

Art's career as a physician in private practice began in 1961 in Denton, Texas at Denton Osteopathic Hospital with Dr. Robert Nobles and Dr. Gerald Flanagan.

During the Gulf War, Art reenlisted in the United States Navy,  serving as a physician at NAS Kingsville in Texas and retired as CMDR  Arthur S. Wiley, USN (Ret)

After retirement from the Navy, Art and Judy returned to Denton to travel and enjoy friends and family.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at the DeBerry Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The funeral services will take place in the Chapel of the DeBerry Funeral Home on Friday, October 1, 2021, at 3:00 PM. The burial will begin at 10:30 AM on October 7, 2021, at the DFW National Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers include Joe Pat Early, John Early, Jim Early, Dr. Robert Nobles, John Noles, Ken Bahnsen, and Dr. Wayne Ventling.
