Arturo Julian Martinez Sr., 70, of Denton passed away on August 29, 2016 in Denton. He was born on May 22, 1946 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Ramon and Dominga (Munguia) Martinez.

He served in Army National Guard as a Sgt. From 1965-1971. He was a race car driver from 1971- 1976. As he was an avid lover of fast cars. After that he was self employed as a truck driver at A&R trucking from 1980-1995. He was a loving father, grandfather, & great grandfather. He was truly blessed by his sons who loved and cared for him to the very end. People knew him for being very strong and opinionated. But everyone who knew him knew he was all heart. He lived life to the fullest. He did things in his lifetime that people only dreamed of. As he got older he loved his women like he loved his cars, pretty and fast. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten. Till we meet again. POP.

He is survived by his wife and loving friend, Mary Ann Salinas daughters, Dianne Botello and husband, Eddie, of Corpus Christi, Sandra Ann Martinez of Denton, Ann Marie Perez and husband Albert of Corpus Christi, JoAnn Yazaguirre and husband Fidel, of Denton and Chelsea Martinez and husband Sergio, of Denton and Mia Leija, sons; Arturo Martinez Jr. of Denton, Bobbie Joel Martinez of Denton, Dustin Javier Martinez of Denton and Jesus Rodriguez, who was like a son to him, Sisters; Lisa Ann Gonzalez of San Antonio, Linda Martinez of Corpus Christi, brother, Ramon Martinez, Jr. of Denton and he had 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren with 1 on the way Evee Rose Becknald. And a special thanks to Leland White for all the help and support he showed our Dad.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, sister, Rosie Garcia and brother, Alfredo Martinez.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at DeBerry Funeral Directors from 6-8 P.M. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors on Friday, September 3, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas.
