Barbara Joyce Amanchuku

Barbara Joyce Whitby Amanchuku, of Denton, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 18th. Services will be held at Friendship Church located at 3813 W University Drive, Denton, Texas 76207 on Friday, August 28th at 11:00 AM.

Barbara was born October 5, 1953 in Denton, Texas to Maxine Whitby Ebron and Leroy Whitby Sr. She graduated from Denton High School in 1971. She built her career with the Denton Independent School District at Fred Moore High School as the receptionist/secretary and retired after 27 years of service. She was dearly loved by all her students as well as the staff at Fred Moore.

At the age of 17, Barbara fell in love with playing the piano. From that point on she began writing, producing and performing her own music. She bonded with countless people, coworkers, family, and friends through her music. We rest reassured that the beautiful music she created will play on in our hearts and memories. She will be greatly missed and her legacy will live on forever.

She is survived by daughters Amisha Whitby and Candace Amanchuku along with a host of other family and friends. Because of her faith and confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ we are at peace knowing that she is reunited with her mother Maxine Ebron Whitby, father Leroy Whitby Sr, niece Shuntia Whitby, and sisters Kimberly Washington and Debra Whitby Peterson, as well as her grandparents, aunts, uncles and many cousins.
