Obituary
Barbara Jean Bunner Watkins, Ph.D., 87, of Denton, passed away on March 5, 2016 in Denton, Texas. She was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi on December 11, 1928 to James and Hazel (Vancleave) Bunner.
She married the late Dr. Ernest Watkins in Yazoo City in 1953.
She was a woman whose life truly epitomizes the meaning of serving God by loving others. Her deep relationship with Christ and her giving nature were well known throughout her Glory of Zion family and the community at large.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, husband and sister, Jean Banchetti.
She is survived by her two sons, Mark Watkins of Denton, Brent Watkins of Pilot Point, daughter, Kathy Smith of Spokane Washington, nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at DeBerry Funeral Directors on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 5-7 P.M. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. with interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
The family also requests that all friends attending the funeral services arrive in bright colored attire to celebrate her life.
