Barbara Sue Dotson, age 81, of Denton, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a cherished friend to many.

Known for her generous heart and nurturing spirit, Barbara made everyone feel cared for. She was a dedicated mother who started each day by packing homemade lunches and cooking mounds of mashed potatoes, corn, and bologna sandwiches. As a stay-at-home mom, she found joy in working at the school cafeteria, often sneaking extra helpings onto trays and never letting a child go hungry—always willing to quietly pay for a meal if needed.

Barbara had a passion for sewing and shared that gift with her granddaughters, teaching them the art of crafting everything from Batman capes and masks to dance costume alterations. Her freezer was always stocked with Braum's and Blue Bell treats for late-night summer indulgences with the grandkids. And every Christmas, without fail, stockings held a Red Delicious apple and an orange—a simple, sweet tradition that spoke to her thoughtful nature.

Barbara also delighted in serving buffet-style breakfasts, often enjoyed well into the afternoon after late-night grandkid adventures. Her table overflowed with pineapple chunks, cereal, bacon, fluffy eggs, and other favorites, creating warm, joyful mornings full of laughter and family togetherness.

Her candy bowl was never empty, her Coke supply endless, and her laughter filled every room. Barbara's kindness, warmth, and unwavering love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her.

Barbara is survived by her children, Ginger and Bob Harvey of Saginaw, James and Melinda Dotson Jr. of Fort Worth, and Jan Dotson of Denton, her nine grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Dotson, and her son, Chris Dotson.

A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Bill DeBerry Funeral Home, 2025 W University Dr, Denton, TX 76201.
