Barbara Gaye Slone, 79, of Denton passed away on January 1, 2023 at her home. She was born in Abilene, Tx., on September 7, 1943 to William Bert and Noveline (Scivally) Twomey. She graduated Abilene high as valedictorian and went on to the University of North Texas to earn a Masters in Sociology with honors. She was a Sr. Tax Advisor at H&R Block for 30+ years and loved helping people. Barbara married Joe Slone August 24th 1963. She loved spending time with her family, Shanna, Shane, Bubba and all her grandkids and great grandkids. She loved and cared for her beloved rescue dog Diamond. For fun Barbara liked to play bingo, collect beanie babies and eat twinkies. Barbara's most wonderful gift she could ever give was the special part of herself that now lives in each of us.

She is survived by her daughter, Shanna Housden of Aubrey, son, Shane Slone of Denton, grandchildren, Brittney Fichera, Bethany Crume, Melanie Whitehead, Brooklin Housden, and Miranda Slone, great-grandchildren, Landon, Lane, Lexi, Cash, Hunter, Ryker and Tilton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Slone, her mother and father, her brother, Kenneth Twomey and her infant son, Steven.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at 2:00 pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas.
