Barry Wayne Parker, beloved father, brother, and grandfather, passed away on August 9, 2026, in Denton, Texas, at the age of 73. Born on September 10, 1952, Barry lived a life marked by personal achievement, dedicated service, and a deep love for his family.

From an early age, Barry was known for his determination, talent, and devotion to those around him. As a loving older brother to Pam, he embraced a role of care and guidance that remained an important part of who he was throughout his life.

Barry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, dedicating nine years of his life to military service in Anchorage, Alaska. His time in the Air Force reflected the discipline, loyalty, and strength of character that would continue to shape him throughout his life.

Barry was gifted with remarkable athletic and artistic talents. His dedication to gymnastics earned him recognition as one of the best gymnasts in North Carolina. He was equally accomplished musically, earning recognition as one of the best trumpet players in Western North Carolina. His accomplishments reflected not only his natural abilities, but also his determination to work hard and strive for excellence in everything he pursued.

His competitive spirit and love of camaraderie continued well into adulthood through his passion for golf, poker, and pool. Barry was especially skilled on the golf course, where he won numerous tournaments and enjoyed the friendships and time spent with fellow players.

Above all else, Barry’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his sons, Jason Parker; Sean Roseberry (Liz); and Trace Parker (Alana); and his daughters, Jessica Everett (Phil) and Nicole Gardiner (Phil). With his children and their families all living in Texas, Barry was grateful for the closeness they shared. He took great pride in his children and treasured the time they spent together.

Barry was a proud grandfather to Cameron Hamer, Connon Hamer, Samantha Gardiner, Payton Parker, Evan Parker, Hayden Parker, Josiah Roseberry, Gabriel Roseberry, Samantha Roseberry, and Julian Parker. His grandchildren brought him tremendous joy, and the memories they created together will remain a cherished part of their lives.

He is also survived by his sisters, Pamela Raymond (Raymond) of Asheville, North Carolina; Barbara-Anne Steegmuller Johnson (Bob) of Greensboro, North Carolina; and Pamela Fentress Evans of Solomons, Maryland. Barry treasured his sisters and the bond they shared throughout their lives.

Barry was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Gabrielle Parker; his mother, Frances Johnson Miller; and his brother-in-law, Michael Solomons Evans M.D. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Barry will be remembered for his generous heart, gentle nature, sense of humor, and quiet strength. He found happiness in the simple moments—spending time with family and friends, taking part in family activities, creating memories, and being there for the people he cared about. His warmth and kindness touched many lives, and his presence will be deeply missed.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors, 2025 W University Dr., Denton, TX 76201. A graveside service will follow from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy., Dallas, TX 75211.

Through his service, accomplishments, humor, kindness, and devotion to those he loved, Barry Wayne Parker leaves behind a lasting legacy. He will be remembered not only for the things he achieved, but for the lives he touched and the memories he created with those closest to him. His memory will remain in the hearts of his family and friends, who will carry his legacy of resilience, strength, and kindness with them always.
