Obituary

Bertie Lee Morris was born in Oklahoma to Jack Cornelison and Era Adams Cornelison on March 12, 1915. She attended school in Madill, Oklahoma, and was of the Baptist faith. She had 3 brothers. Bertie married James Frank Morris, on July 27, 1933. They made their home in Denton, Texas, where they raised nine children. Bertie was a member of the Rebecca Lodge and retired from Moore Business Forms in Denton.

Bertie left this earth on September 23, 2013, in Mannford, Oklahoma. She outlived her parents and siblings and was preceded in death by her husband, James Frank Morris; daughter, Paula Pence; and 2 grandsons, James F. Morris III and Jason Morris. She is survived by her children, Judy Fullbright and husband W.J. of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; Martha Powers of Denton; James F. Morris Jr. and wife Judy of Naples, Florida; Connie Fullbright and husband Larry of Cleveland, Oklahoma; Ernest Morris and wife Stella of Forestburg, Texas; Lynn Hollaway and husband, Rodney of Denton; Bill Morris and wife Etta of Krum; and Teresa Jones and husband Henry of Justin. She is also survived by her many grandchildren who lovingly called her "Mamaw." She had many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren too.

Bertie lived, raised a family, and worked in Denton most of her adult life. She always held a love for Oklahoma and loved it when some of her children "migrated" there. Bertie's one hobby was crocheting, and she created many afghans and tablecloths that warm and decorate our homes. She also enjoyed working with plants. Nights at Mamaw and Papaw's house for a kid included a viewing of Texas Wrestling, Dr. Pepper, and possibly some ice cream. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is finally with Frank again.

Family visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton from 3-5 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Denton.
