Obituary

Bette Jon Schneider was born in Quanah, TX, and
passed away on August 29, 2024, in Lewisville, TX, after a long and strong-minded fight
against cancer. She was 81 years old.

After obtaining her R.N. degree in 1970 from Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing in
Amarillo, TX. Bette moved to Denton, TX, in 1973. While she was a central staff member
contributing to the development of the Denton County Mental Health Unit, Bette enrolled in
Texas Woman's University where she earned her B.S. degree and continued on to
complete an M.S. degree in psychiatric nursing in 1979. Her career path shifted in 1981
when she made the decision to move into the private sector as a nurse practitioner which
eventually evolved into practicing as a professional counselor and a marriage and family
therapist. She practiced in Lewisville, TX, and remained professionally active continuing to
practice part-time during retirement.

In addition to socializing with friends, professional colleagues, and gym workout
companions, Bette felt at home being a party hostess or reading mystery paperbacks while
in the sun with a glass of wine. She forever enjoyed planning road trips throughout the U.S.
and making travel arrangements to visit international destinations including Egypt, Peru,
Russia, China, and Australia. She completed her last trip fulfilling a life-long wish to visit Alaska just days before her passing.

She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents Homer and Lela Johnston and her parents Foster (Kayo) and Ruby (Johnston)
Fitzpatrick. She is survived by her daughter Caroline Vassey (Mickey), brother Jim Fitzpatrick (Norma), sister Alice Lindner (Steve), nieces Holly
Shultz (Jared), Tracy Brandes (Aaron), granddaughters Tyra Krause (Matt), April Bogs (William), Micki Hayden (Chris), and six great-
grandchildren Aidan, Mason, Simon, Avery, Chase, and Payton. She will be missed by Lawence J. Schneider, brothers-in-law Eugene Schneider
(Kathy), Norbert Schneider (Ann Marie), and Paul Schneider (Kathy) and by her many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.

Bette's immediate family will hold a private memorial.
