Obituary

Betty Fern Langston passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022, after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her daughter, son-in-law, precious sisters-in-law, and brother-in-law.   She was born in Mountain Springs, Texas, to James and Ruth Southard on November 3, 1939.

Betty married the love of her life, Gerald (Jerry) Langston, on July 3, 1959, in Hood, Texas. They had two children and enjoyed life to the fullest. They especially enjoyed traveling to Branson with her family. After Jerry unexpectedly passed away in 2003, Betty moved to Robson Ranch, where she learned to enjoy life again by spending time with her family, shopping, and playing bridge with numerous friends. She always said it wasn't the life she wanted, but she had to learn to enjoy life again. Betty was a great model showing us how to continue life when it had been shattered. She faced life with so much courage and strength. However, mama faced death the same way, as the end did not come easy for her. She always said she did not fear death but getting there was the hard part.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Langston. Her parents, James and Ruth Southard; brother Charles Southard; In-laws, Brandy and Luna Langston; Brothers in law, Buddy Hunt, Thurman Scivally, and James Langston; great-grandson, Knox Lewis; and granddaughter, Julianne Darnell,

Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Rita Langston of Dahlonega, GA, and daughter and son-in-law, Shellie and Jon Lackey of Roanoke, TX. Brothers and their wives: Clifford and Sharon Southard; Jim and Andra Southard; sister-in-law, Betty Southard; Brother and sister-in-law, Dutch and Ann Langston; Sisters in law, Barbara Hunt, Stephanie Langston, and Ann Scivally. Grandchildren, Cody Brule, his wife Caitlin; Brandi Lewis, her husband, Matthew. Josh Langston, his wife Kristina; Sawyer, Amelia, and Abby Langston. Chris Thompson and his wife, Stephanie. Bailey and Dawson Lackey. Great grandchildren, Adam and Grant Langston; Ella and Eli Lewis; Lyla Brule; Parker, Connor, Mary Francis, and Harrison Thompson.
