Billie Margaret Shewell Hubbard passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 in Denton, Texas. Billie was born September 4, 1929 in Baytown, Texas to Willie Lorene Talley Shewell and Charles Tripler Shewell. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother John Robert Shewell.

Billie married George Underwood Hubbard in 1951. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, four children, Elizabeth Hubbard of Krum, TX, John Hubbard of Hearne, TX, David Hubbard of Pleasant View, UT, Linda Hubbard Pinkerton of San Tan Valley, AZ; fifteen grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren; and nieces Melissa Hinson of Kinde, MI and Elizabeth Heneks of Vernon Hills, IL.

Billie is a graduate and active alumnus of Texas State College for Women, now Texas Woman's University. Billie as Vice President of TWU's National Alumni Association and Class of 1951 TWU Class Agent. With degrees in clothing and costume design, Billie plied her skills on her family and in multiple volunteer capacities including work with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Her quilt of The Little Chapel in the Woods hangs in the Blagg-Huey Library at Texas Woman's University.

Billie held multiple leadership positions throughout her life as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint. In addition to teaching in various church organizations, she served as Relief Society (the women's organization) President on the ward and stake levels and she served eight years as Stake Girls' Camp Director. She was also active with Girl Scouts and various civic organizations.

Billie loved gardening, often producing prize-winning produce. She was accomplished at quilting and sewing, designing and making clothing for herself and her family members.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 6, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1801 Malone St. Denton, TX 76201. A viewing will commence at 9:00 am, followed by the funeral at 10:00 am. Billie will be interned at Krum Cemetery following the funeral service. Billie desired Memorial donations in lieu of flowers to The Little Chapel in the Woods Fund at Texas Woman's University.
