Obituary

Billy Jack Carter passed away at his son's home in Ponder, Texas on December 25th surrounded by his family. He was born in Aubrey, Tx on 12/21/1940 to Jack Carter and Gladys Wilson. He graduated from Denton High in 1959 and married the love of his life, Marian Hill on 6/28/1963 and from this came 3 children and a lifetime of love and laughter.


BJ worked for Brunswick managing bowling centers, but is remembered for managing Holiday Lanes and Varsity Bowl in Denton. His greatest joy was bowling, fishing with his sons and grandkids and watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in sports.

BJ is survived by his 3 children: Brent (Cindy) Carter of Ponder, Stacy (David) Fruth of Ponder and Jason (Linda) Carter of Frisco. Grandchildren: Cole (Hannah) Carter, Mitch (Emily) Fruth, Brenden (Halie) Fruth, Chloe Carter, Sophia Carter, Andrew Gorder, Kayela Gorder and 6 great grandchildren and one more due in May, several cousins and many extended family members and friends.

BJ was preceded in death by his wife Marian Carter, his father Jack Carter, his mother Gladys Wilson, many aunts, uncles, cousins and family members.


In Lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society , Span Transportation and Meals on Wheels of Denton County.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to Concho Hearts Hospice for the wonderful care he received.

A memorial will be held at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 10am.
