Obituary

A long time resident of Denton, Texas, Bill Cogdell passed on Sunday evening, July 21, 2013.

Following his victorious battles against three different cancer diagnosis over the past 8 years, Bill was cancer free at his death.

Bill retired following a successful 20 year career at Bonded Lightening Protection Systems, Ltd. (October 28, 1985 - retired December 31, 2004).

Over the years he grew and maintained relationships with friends and family from his youth. He was very outgoing in his school years holding a variety of positions in various offices and clubs, including President of the 1955 Senior Class of Denton High. He was elected to a variety of class titles over the years, beginning with King in his Freshman year. Bill was very athletic throughout his school career and participated in many sports while excelling in baseball and football. He even served in office for The D Club - a club not sponsored by the school but its only members were boys who lettered in a sport at Denton High School. Bill attended some college before beginning his family and his professional career as a Denton Police Officer. Bill moved away as he followed his career as a draftsmen and designer in the oil and gas industry taking his family to Orlando, FL, Plano, TX, and Omaha, NE ultimately returning to North Texas to pursue a new career that lead him to Bonded.

Before his original diagnosis he purchased land with a brother, where they enjoyed hunting, fishing and working the land. In retirement, he enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing there and other locations, that he shared with his children, grandchildren, Cousin James and dear friends. In most recent years, he continued to join and celebrate with friends through class reunions, mid-year class reunions, lunches and the ever loving FMFM (Friday Morning Feeble Minded) coffee club. During his extended illness, he and his children were able to spend very close times together.
