IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Billy Don
Hatfield
June 11, 1935 – September 4, 2020
Billy Don Hatfield passed away Friday, September 4, 2020 in Krum at the age of 85. He was born in Henrietta, Oklahoma to Charles and Irah Hatfield on June 11, 1935. Billy married Gayle Sims on January 25, 1991 in Denton, Texas at her mother's house. They loved telling the story of running errands with each other on their big day, just the way they both wanted. Billy enjoyed playing with his horses, talking with his favorite dog, Yodi, spending time with family and making Gayle happy. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Charlene; and son, Kurt.
A visitation will be held at DeBerry Funeral Directors on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
Billy is survived by his wife, Gayle; his son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Jan; daughter, Brooke; granddaughter, Jennifer; grandson, Grant; great grandsons, Ethan, Ephram and Evan; nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephew.
Bill was an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers. He played football for Oklahoma and loved regaling everyone with stories of playing for Bud Wilkinson. He loved Gayle with all his heart and would always do whatever made her happy. He could never tell her "no." He was proud of all his animals. He loved riding his horses and giving Yodi his last bite of food. He loved playing guitar and singing. He tried to teach Brooke how to sing and failed miserably at that, but they had the best times singing to each other. He loved spending time with Craig and Jan, talking about it for days after they went back home. He loved that his grandson played guitar and would brag about how wonderfully Grant played. He loved that he was a great grandpa and said Jennifer was a great 'boy' mom. Bill never met a stranger.
