IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Billy Edd
Jeter
November 8, 1935 – January 3, 2018
Billy Edd Jeter, 82 of Denton, Texas passed away on January 3, 2018 in Denton. He was born on November 8, 1935 to Edd Anderson Jeter and Ardell Grissom Jeter in Mesquite, Texas.
Billy Edd was a commercial painter for Shahan Painting Company at the ripe age of 12 and upon graduation from high school and apprenticeship school he was a Journeyman at age 18. Mr. Jeter convinced his high school sweetheart, Loretta, to marry him and the two were wed on February 4, 1955. Throughout the 40 years that Billy Edd dedicated to Shahan Painting Company he completed the DFW Airport, Texas Stadium, and numerous other downtown buildings located in Dallas and Fort Worth. Billy Edd opened his own business, BJ Paining in the early 1990's. BJ Painting thrived for another 15 years until he finally decided to retire and enjoy his time with his wife.
Despite his busy schedule as a painting entrepreneur, Billy Edd always found time for his true horsemanship passion. Billy Edd was an avid horseman, and served as a member of the American Association and Sherriff Posse Riding Club for more than 50 years. Mr. Jeter devoted his life to the organization and even served as President. He utilized this time to create unconditional bonds with his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Jeter (aka "Papa") survived raising two of the orneriest set of sons one man can handle, so God blessed him with six granddaughters and only one grandson. Papa had a knack for confusing children and challenging them with the impossible task to wiggle their ears. When you climbed in the truck with Papa there was only one destination, "going to see a man about a bird-dog". No matter how big our butts got there was always room in Papa's lap for his grandkids. He loved to cook his family breakfast and when the first freeze hit everyone would be lined up for his famous beef stew. Papa enjoyed ending his day with toddy for the body and a slice of cherry pie.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Loretta Jeter; his three children, Tommy and Terri Jeter, John and Karyn Jeter, Becky and Calvin Rhodes; his six grandchildren, Kristyn Jeter and Brian Beck, Cassie and Vance Harral, Jenna and Bryan Koestner, Halie Rhodes, Sarah Jeter, Will Jeter; and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Jeter is preceded in death by his parents, Edd and Ardell Jeter, and granddaughter, Jaime Lynn Jeter Buckingham.
Billy Edd passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Of all the legacies he has bestowed upon his family, the greatest is love. He will be remembered as a loving family man. The family would like to express their extreme gratitude to ARC home health, especially Rosa, Cresha and Joy; and the numerous doctors and nurses at Texas Health Presbyterian for their generous support and compassion.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 4-6pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas. The service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 2:00pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors.
