Obituary

Billy Richard Overstreet, 71, of Canyon Lake, Texas passed away on November 15, 2023, at his Family's home in Sanger, Texas.   He was born in Houston, Texas on August 21, 1952 to Author and Leona (Sones) Overstreet.

Billy found the heart of his home to be in the Hill Country from about 2010 till he got sick and came back to North Texas recently to stay with his Neice Ginger and family for his final few weeks.

Billy was THE "music freak" in the family! This was the guy at 71 years old, who liked his rock n roll…LOUD! Not to mention that his nephew John was his pride and joy in the music world.

Billy was MUCH more than just a son, brother and uncle though. He was a talented PHOTOGRAPHER, ARTIST, ARMY VET, and TOY DONOR for children's hospitals, and his great generosity and empathy towards everyone's children, especially his close friends children.  He loved his time outside not to mention traveling and sightseeing and of course visiting family but If it pertained to water and he could take his kayak, he was all for it or if he could just go hiking and sightseeing, and capture pictures of just anything out in the wilderness he was a happy man.  Bill was an over-the-road truck driver for approximately 23 years where he would park that truck just to capture of beauty of nature at any given time.

Billy loved all of the holidays and kept up with everyone's birthdays. But I think his favorite was Thanksgiving and Christmas with family and friends because he loved to eat and snack all day and sneak pictures of everyone, but you could very rarely get a picture of him.

Billy was never married or had any children of his own but was definitely an AMAZING uncle to many nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his sister Linda Inman of Checotah, Oklahoma.  Neice Ginger, and Shane of Sanger, Tx , Neice Jaime, and Bubba of Oklahoma and Nephew John Inman of Dallas his Great Neice who he called his angel Emilee,  and several more great nieces and nephews Lexie, Sydnie, Preston, Levi, and Christopher and one great Nephew Brantley and a host of friends across the country but a few that specifically really meant a lot to him was his best friends of many years James and Regina and also Tim.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father  Author and Leona Overstreet, and his brother Larry Overstreet.

A Committal service will be held at the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery on November 27, 2023, at 9:15 Am and a family/friend gathering will be held afterward in Sanger, Texas
