Birdessia L. Blackwell, 55, of Denton passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on May 22, 1963 in Denton, Texas to Eddie and Sharon Huey. She attended Denton schools and worked at Bartel Trucking for 16 years. She is preceded in death by her mother, Sharon Huey and her grandmother, Margaret McAninch.

Birdie was the expression of unselfish love to her family and friends. She leaves a legacy of kindness, joyfulness, forgiveness and love. Katie, her precious daughter, became her best friend and most dedicated caregiver. Her grandchildren, Chloe and Cash, were the light of her life.

She is survived by her father, Eddie Huey of Denton, brother Edward Huey of Denton, daughter, Katie Blackwell of Denton, grandchildren, Chloe and Cash.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday, September 3, 2018 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at Valley View Cemetery.
