Birgit Eunice Anderson Roberts, aged 97, passed away on October 19, 2024, in Denton, Texas. Born on October 28, 1926, in Mexico City D.F., Mexico to missionary parents Axel and Ester Anderson. Birgit grew up immersed in a multicultural environment, speaking Spanish, Swedish, and later English after she moved to Rockford, Illinois.

Birgit's life was marked by her deep faith and commitment to Christ, which she expressed through her enduring prayer for her family up until her final days. Her loving and strong-willed nature touched everyone she knew, particularly her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved genuinely and deeply.

Throughout her life, Birgit embraced a variety of vocations without formal training. Her career spanned across multiple fields including working as a nanny, nurse's assistant, watchmaker assembler, Bell & Howell clerk, grocery cashier & bagger, furniture sales, fine jewelry repair, floral arranger, Spanish language teacher, and seamstress. Her adventurous spirit and industrious nature were evident in every role she undertook.

In her free time, Birgit was a prolific creator. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, tatting, sketching, sewing, cross-stitching, macrame, crafting doll furniture from cans, painting, and decoupaging. Her artistic talents were as diverse as her career choices, showcasing her creative spirit and her ability to bring beauty into the world.

Birgit was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Roberts; daughter, Anita Walker; siblings Esther, Anita, Persis, Sylvia, Majbritt, Paul, Samuel, David, and her parents. She is survived by her daughters, Birgit Morris (Dr. Marc Morris) and Esther Hefner (George Hefner); son-in-law, Jeff Walker; nine grandchildren, Nils Walker (Wendy), Lars Walker (Laura), Tamah Fletcher (Jacob), Stig Walker, Matthew Morris (Kathryn), Kenneth Morris (Angie), David Morris (Callie), Rachel Cypull (John), Curtis Hefner (Melody); and 21 great-grandchildren.

A service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, beginning at 2:00 P.M., at DeBerry Funeral Home, 2025 W University Dr, Denton, TX 76201. The family invites all who knew Birgit to join in remembering her remarkable life.
