Blane Henry Meeks, known to many as "Preacher," passed away on August 6, 2026, at his home in Krum, Texas, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was 59 years old.

Born on September 13, 1966, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Blane lived a life defined by service, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to protecting others. He served as a decorated combat veteran with the U.S. Army Rangers for twenty years, followed by another two decades contracting with the State Department in locations around the world. Whether on the battlefield or in the field abroad, he dedicated himself to shielding the vulnerable and training others to do the same, always with humility, kindness, and his signature humor.

A natural athlete with a sharp wit and an easy laugh, Blane had a gift for making people feel welcome and at ease. He loved traveling, diving into history and literature, and enjoying good music. He had a remarkable way with animals, and those who knew him could count on him for encouragement and warmth no matter the circumstance. An ordained minister and proud member of the Blackwater Security Alumni Association, he poured himself into his communities wherever life took him.

Blane was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Nadine Meeks; his father, John Boyd Meeks Sr.; and his mother, Norma Jean Meeks. He is survived by his beloved wife of thirty years, Alicia Meeks; sons Logan Scott, Kristofer Blane, Lance Andrew, and Aidan Connor Meeks; daughters Madison Liana Meeks and Aislinn Meeks Springer; and brothers John Boyd Meeks Jr. and Daniel Meeks.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, tentatively during the first week of October 2026. Details will be announced as they are confirmed.
