Obituary

Bob James, aged 62, of Justin, Texas, was welcomed into the arms of his Savior on Monday, April 10, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. His life will be celebrated on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at 10:00am at First Baptist Church Justin, Texas, with Dr. Ted Kersh and Dr. Roger Ferguson officiating. Interment will be at Long Cemetery in Powderly, Texas, at 3:30pm.

Family will greet friends Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm at First Baptist Church Justin.

Bob was born September 24, 1954, in Roswell, NM, to Joseph Virgil and Mary Louise (Murphree) James. He was a 1973 graduate of Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Texas, and attended Howard Payne University.

Bob worked for UARCO Business Forms for nine years and then entered the concrete industry where he worked for the next 14 years at Dolese Brothers, Oklahoma Ready Mix Concrete Assoc. and Texas Aggregates and Concrete Assoc. He has worked in project management in the construction industry for the past six years.

Bob was an accomplished Eagle Scout and member of the Order of the Arrow; he was a Rotarian and recipient of the Paul Harris Award, as well as a member of First Baptist Church Justin where he served with great joy in the Men's, Music, and Usher Ministries. Bob was also a proud supporter of the Northwest Texan Football Booster Club, where he served as President.

On May 5, 1988, he married Melissa Carter at Bywaters Park in Paris, Texas. After living in Oklahoma City for 17 years, they returned to Texas in 2005. Their greatest joys came from spending time with family and being "Mimi and Papa" to their grands. Together they enjoyed serving others in their church and community. Bob set the bar high as a husband, father, Papa, and brother, but set it even higher as a man of God.

He is survived by his wife, Melissa; daughters Jeannie Nicole Johnson and husband Nathan of Keller, Texas; Christy Annette Taylor and husband Chris of Thorndale, Texas; son, Carter Evan James of Justin, Texas; sister Judy James of Weatherford, Texas, and grandchildren, Makenna, Kynlee, Bryce and Kamryn Johnson, Maegan, Timothy, Collin and Carson Taylor, and numerous dearly loved friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Lou James and grandmother, Sara James.
