Bobby George "Hoot" Gibson, 73, of Krum passed away on May 5, 2018 in Denton, Texas. He was born to Herbert Gibson and Maxine (Harry) Gibson Peers in Muenster, Texas on July 6, 1944.
His father was in the Navy and the family lived in various places around the country. When he retired, the family moved to Denton and Hoot graduated from Denton High School in 1962. In January 1966, he began a two-year service in the US Marine Corps and served in Viet Nam. When he got out of the service, he got his private pilot's license which began a long career in the general aviation business. From 1980 until 1982, he flew as co-pilot for two oil and gas companies in Wichita Falls. The last few years, he worked as a security guard at WinStar Casino and TWU from which he retired in August 2017.
In 1974 he married Deborah Cotton and they were married for 43 ½ years.
Bob enjoyed flying very much. Another of his passions was Labrador retrievers. He trained and competed in field trial competitions for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Gibson of Krum, brother, Jerry and wife Barbara Gibson of Briar, Texas, sister-in-law, Betty Mahan, step-father, Archie Peers, step-brother, Paul Peers, Belva Gibson and a host of cousins and other family members.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, in-laws, Doyal and Betty Cotton, brother-in-law, Billy Wayne Cotton and step-brother, Michael Peers.
A memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas on May 19, 2018 at 2:00 PM.
