Obituary

Bryan Steven Gunn, 71, of Argyle, Texas passed away on May 17, 2018. He was born in Petaluma, California on November 22, 1946 to Jacob Gunn and Juanda Seventy.

Bryan was a devout Christian who committed his lifetime to the service of his family, community, and country. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal on June 21, 1966 for wounds received in combat. Bryan was Honorably Discharged from the United States Marine Corps November 21, 1969.

Bryan graduated with honors from the University of Redlands on August 31, 1979 where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Service Management. He began his career journey with the California Department of Corrections in 1968. Years of dedication, fortitude, passion, and compassion served him well as his career would lead him to the heights of Warden before retiring in 2002.

He married Rosalind Sharp-Gunn on March 20, 1982 in California. His love and devotion for his family nurtured the bond that would sustain them through life's many challenges.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalind of Argyle, and daughters; Amber Abella of Sacramento, California, Christie Valentine of Flower Mound, Texas, Erin Gunn of Bull Head City, Arizona, and sons; Blake Gunn of Prosper, Texas, and Brandon Gunn of Lewisville, Texas, and grandchildren; Amanda Abella (Mesa), John Abella, Samuel Abella, Matthew Abella, Daniel Abella, Drew Valentine, Lauren Valentine, Zachary Crosswhite, Bryson Gunn, Colton Gunn, Bradley Gunn, BrenLe Gunn, and great grandchildren; Neela Abella, and Kailum Crosswhite.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father, stepmother Jenny Gunn, stepfather Andy Seventy, son David Sharp, and brother Dennis Gunn.

Interment will be held at the Dallas / Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 11 A.M. A celebration of life will follow at 1:00 P.M. at Cross Timbers Church of Argyle in Argyle, Texas.
