Burl Jackson Chester, 75 of Sanger, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at home. He was born May 25, 1950, in Memphis, Texas to Allie Lee and Elva Robertson Chester.
He married Georgina Grissom on April 12, 1980, in Denton, TX by JP Rosie Erwin.
Burl was a Career Truck Driver for 44 years, he was a Milk tanker driver for Borden’s in Amarillo, Texas, Household furniture for United Van Lines also delivered Gas for Don Johnson Oil Company in Denton, TX and hauled Feed and Fertilizer and Freight from Coast to Coast.
In retirement, he enjoyed sitting on his front porch watching the world go by, enjoying a cold beverage, watching NASCAR when Dale Earnhardt Sr. was driving, collecting Knives and watching Western’s. His favorite musicians were Ray Price and Connie Smith (whom he met at one time). His 4-legged BFF’s were Bully, Flynn & Tilly. He was a Republican and Loved America!
Burl is survived by his Wife, Georgina Grissom Chester, Son, Greg and wife Tina Chester, DIL Kelly Clower Chester, Grandchildren, Dillon Chester and Greg Chester II, Bonus Grandchildren, LeLani Cassundra and Kevin Kenny, Sisters, Shirley Burton, Laura Potter, very special friends, Lavonda Shobert, Darren & Krissy Carter, Angie & Tom Melson, Wendy and Tommy Adams, Vanessa and Rick Lynch, Dan and Sandy Wehrman, many nieces, nephews and cousins and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allie and Elva Chester, In-laws, Anna May and Gilbert Grissom, brothers, Allie Chester, GW Chester, Dale Chester, sisters, Lucille Holsey, June Fielding, Bonnie Wossum, Joy Allen, Mildred Slovak, Debbie Chester and son, B.J. Chester.
Per Burl’s wishes he was cremated and did not want any services.
Just remember him by the stories he may have shared and Raise a Cocktail glass in his memory.
Then I know with every breath you take, you'll be taking one for me.
To everyone that ever shared a cocktail, meal, story with him Bless you all and we will see him on the other side.
