Obituary

Caleb James Wayne Calvert passed away suddenly at the age of 26 in his home in Frisco, Texas on Monday, May 22, 2023.

Caleb was born in Denton, Texas on March 4, 1997 to Cathy Farmer and Randy Calvert. He graduated from Ryan High School, and during his brief time with us, he had already become quite a world traveler. In addition to visits to Alaska and Hawaii, Caleb traveled to Jamaica, Belize, Mexico, Italy, Egypt, Spain, and France, as well as to New Zealand and Australia.

But traveling to different places and learning about different cultures was just one of the many things that Caleb was interested in. He loved military history. And he was a big cinephile particularly enjoying the horror genre and science fiction—especially Star Wars. More than that, Caleb had a lifelong interest in being actively involved in the arts. On the one hand, he often displayed his quirky sense of humor in his cartoon drawings. But even more than in the visual arts, Caleb found his voice in music. Over the years, he had become quite knowledgeable about music history which allowed him to appreciate bands from different eras including The Beach Boys, The Beatles, BTS, One Direction, Seo Taiji and Boys, and Michael Jackson. And in the process, he gradually discovered his true passion: writing and performing his own music. Although his musical interests spanned many different genres, his own band, Bleach Junkie, performed punk music. They were a true garage band practicing in his dad's auto shop.

Caleb is preceded in death by his grandmother Maxine Calvert and great-grandmother Ora Little. He was the apple of their eyes, and he will surely be received into their loving arms in Heaven. He is  survived by his father, Randy Calvert; his mother, Cathy Alonzo; step-father, Juan Alonzo; step-brothers, Brandon and Jason Alonzo; grandparents, Sherry and Charles Farmer and Wayne Calvert (his namesake); uncle, Chris Farmer; aunts, Angie Farmer, Rhonda Calvert, Debbie Calvert; cousins, Ashleigh Calvert, Ashlan Farmer, Anslie Hernandez, Alyssa Farmer, Hailie Hernandez, Andrea Farmer; the love of his life, Katelyn Stone; his best friend since first grade, Chili Weisman; and many more beloved family and friends.

A celebration of Caleb's life will be held on Friday at 2:00 PM at Bill DeBerry Funeral Home, 2025 West University, Denton. There will also be a visitation on Thursday evening from 5-7PM. Family and friends are invited to join us at both.

Pallbearers will be Chili Weisman, Reese Tipton, Ethan Harral, Tristan Frey, Nick Jeppeson, Trevor Smith.

Because Caleb fought hard to overcome addiction, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made on his behalf to an organization that is working toward recovery. Denton Freedom House and WTF (Winning the Fight) are two that help those fighting the disease of addiction.
