Calvin Dewayne Harris
On Friday, July 1, 2016, at age 69, our cherished husband, dad, Papaw, and brother left to be with the Lord. He passed away surrounded by his wife, children, and sisters.
He would leave us with these words, "As you bury me, bury my faults and my weaknesses. Give my sins to the devil and my soul to God, and remember me by doing a kind deed or giving a kind word to someone who needs you, and if you do as I have asked, you will live forever."
He was born September 28, 1946 to the late Leonard and DeAlva Harris, in Denton, TX. He was most proud of retiring as an Owner/Operator of a Borden's Milk Distributorship in 1998 and recently retiring as owner of D & S Vending.
On October 2, 1964, he married Reta Sue (Carroll) Harris, who preceded him in death on January 22, 2000.
June 10, 2000, he married Kaywin (Voss) Harris who has lovingly been by his side. His children are forever grateful for her constant companionship to him.
He is also survived by his children: Delbert Harris, Jeff Harris, Sr., Lisa Murphy, and Trisa Doherty as well as two stepsons: Kenneth Thorne and BJ Thorne. He has 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; along with two sisters Cynthia Hassell and Karen Davis.
Visitation will be from 2 PM to 4 PM on July 4, (Dewayne's favorite holiday) at DeBerry Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, July 5 in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
The family requests that memorials be made to your local animal shelter, as Dewayne loved his "Owen", which he rescued from a nearby shelter.
