Carl Louis Haberland passed away on July 11, 2017 at the age of 75 years old. He was born and Brockton Massachusetts and moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1950s. Carl was the first graduating class of Stranahan high school in 1959 and married his high school sweetheart Kathryn McPhilomy.

Carl and Kathy recently celebrated 55 years together and are survive by their children David (Lorelei) in New Hampshire, Ken (Traci) of Florida and Judy Bourne (Doug)in Texas. Carl also has numerous grandchildren Kenny, Emily, Dakota, Darian, Jeremey and Jason.

Carl started as an apprentice with Acme sheet-metal and spent the next 40 years in the industry. He worked his way up to ownership of the company (Acme Chute) and patented his own trash chute door and system. His company built and installed the system is in nearly every high-rise in South Florida and Dubai. He maintain a union shop and sold the business and 1999 and retired to Texas. Carl was a lifetime member of the international sheet metal workers union and the local 32.

Carl was active in the community in South Florida and served as an assistant scout leader for Boy Scout Troop 133 where he observed both of his sons obtain the rank of Eagle Scout.

In retirement he greatly enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren. Carl was also an active member of the Cross Timbers church in Argyle Texas and he was a 16th generation descendant of them Mayflower society.

The family will receive friends at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas on Friday, July 14, 2017 from 4-6 PM. Services will he held at Cross Timbers Church 312 West McKinney Street in Denton on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. with interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
