IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol G.
Glover-Fletcher
September 19, 1935 – November 2, 2024
Carol Grace DeLoach Glover Fletcher entered her Heavenly home on Nov. 2, 2024, at the age of 89. Her warmth, creativity, and unwavering spirit leave a legacy that will forever touch the lives of all who knew her.
Carol was born in Houston but spent most of her childhood in Alamo Heights, San Antonio where she had many fond memories growing up. In 8th grade her family moved to University Park, TX where she graduated from Highland Park High School in 1954 and was part of the Lads & Lassies choir.
Carol graduated from TWU in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science in Art Education. While attending TWU she earned the J.W. Van Dyke scholarship. She was a student assistant her sophomore and junior years. She performed in Stunt all 4 years, where sophomores would compete against freshmen, with skits or talent. At TWU, she was named a Redbud Princess. She also held the positions of secretary and president in the TWU Dallas club. In 1958, she was named the Cotton Bowl Duchess for Texas A & M.
After moving to NY for a period and earning a scholarship to study painting at The Fontainebleau Fine Arts Conservatory in France, her love of art and history blossomed. This foundation became the cornerstone of a life filled with creativity and learning. She went on to teach, sharing her talents and inspiring countless students, always encouraging them to see the beauty and possibilities in the world around them. Her art was a true reflection of her personality - a gentle blend of elegance, warmth, and depth.
Carol is survived by her 3 children: Daughter, Laurie Moore (Rob); Son, Michael Glover; Daughter, Karen Rogers (Mike). Her 6 grandchildren: Hailey Ponton (Andrew), Harrison Moore (Maddy), Chase Rogers (Marlow), Eric Rogers, Kendyl Rogers, & Zachariah Glover and one great-granddaughter, Shiloh Grace Ponton. Her brother, Ed DeLoach (Tinka) and numerous great nieces and nephews and her beloved cat, Mindy.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Vern Glover and second husband, Doyle Fletcher who passed away in March after 30 loving years of marriage.
Family was at the center of Carol's life. She took great joy and pride in being Mom and Mimi to her children and grandchildren - always being hands on with art projects, gardening, reading stories, volunteering at schools, sharing her incredible Burnham family history, playing the piano and music, enjoying her pets, birds, rabbits and chickens over the years. Beyond her roles as an artist and teacher, Carol had an enduring passion for history, often recounting stories of the past that brought her family's heritage to life.
Mom never met a stranger and treasured the longtime friends and neighbors she and Doyle made in Krum, TX and her Fun Bunch girlfriends.
Carol will be remembered not only for her artistic talents and love of learning but also for her kindness, humor, and the deep love she gave to those around her. Her legacy will live on through her family, friends and all who had the privilege to know her.
A graveside celebration of Carol's life will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 2:00 at Jackson Cemetery in Krum, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Little Chapel Support Fund at Texas Woman's University. Checks can be mailed to the TWU Foundation at 1605 N. Bell Ave., Denton, TX 76204, or give online at https://giving.twu.edu/
May her beautiful soul rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who loved her.
