Obituary
Carolyn Jo Brown, 71 of Denton, TX went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 19, 2012. She was born on May 11, 1941 in Denton, TX to Otha Glenn and Ruby Belle Smith. Carolyn graduated from Denton High School in 1959.
She married the love of her life, John Howard Brown of Corinth, TX, on April 2, 1960 at the First Assembly of God Church in Denton. Her husband worked for Fischbach and Moore International Corporation, which took them many places around the world. She worked for many years as the Office Manager for Floyd Smith Concrete, Inc.
She was a member of Willowwood Church of the Nazarene, formally known as Taylor Park. Carolyn served faithfully to her church as a steward, a teacher and as the Children's Director for many years. She was known to her family as "HOHO." She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters and her many family and friends. Her faith in Christ and her love for her family was shown daily in every aspect of her life.
In 2002, she was diagnosed with Metastatic Colon Cancer. Her positive attitude, her insurmountable strength, grace, and love for her Lord led her to overcome the disease time after time. She was an inspiring role model for many and touched each and every life she encountered.
She is preceded in death by her husband John Howard Brown; her parents Otha Glenn and Ruby Belle Smith; one sister Elva Pearl Vogt; and one brother Floyd Glenn Smith.
She is survived by one son John Kevin Brown and daughter in law, Libbi Hedges Brown and her three granddaughters, the delight of her life, Mattison, Hannah and Haley Jo; brother Alvin Doyle Smith and wife Nina Smith; brother Virgil Dan Smith and wife Sharon Smith and one sister Virginia Ann Waggoner and husband Joe Waggoner of Denton; Charles Lee Smith and wife Janis Smith of Corinth, TX; sister in law, Mickey Smith of Euless; one brother in law Donald Ray Brown and wife Virginia Brown of Runaway Bay. She is also survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews who will forever hold love in their hearts.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Willowwood Church of the Nazarene 1513 Williowwood Dr., Denton, TX. Funeral Services to be held Wednesday, May 23, 2012 10:30 am at the same location
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
