Carolyn Sue (Carrigan) Johnson April 16, 1945 – September 14, 2024

Carolyn Sue Johnson, born in Amarillo, Texas, on April 16, 1945, passed away on September 14, 2024, at the age of 79. Carolyn spent most of her adult life in Denton and Lewisville, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman Hardison Carrigan and Sarah Ruth (Johnson) Carrigan, and her beloved husband, Freddie Jack Johnson of Denton.

She is survived by her sons: Barry (Susan) Johnson of Lewisville, Chuck (Joanne) Johnson of Lewisville and Jack (Keri) Johnson of Denton. Carolyn was a devoted grandmother to her eight grandchildren: Tyler (Shannon) Johnson of Lewisville, Zane (Kelsey) Johnson of Lewisville, Stephan (Stephanie) Johnson of Chico, Brandon (Daphne) Johnson of Boyd, Ashlee Johnson of Lewisville, Tori Johnson of Denton, Zack Johnson of Denton, and Ali Johnson of Denton. Carolyn was also a proud great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren: Hayden and Riley Johnson of Chico; Brooke, Payton, and Falyn Johnson of Boyd, and Sonya Johnson of Lewisville.

Carolyn graduated from Denton High School and later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Texas Woman's University. She had a fulfilling career, working at Denton State School and Denton ISD in various capacities. However, the role she cherished most was that of a homemaker, dedicating her life to raising her three sons.

Her love, care, and guidance extended into the lives of her grandchildren, with whom she remained deeply involved in her later years. An accomplished pianist, Carolyn shared her talents by playing for several churches and serving in various capacities within her faith communities. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she was always ready to pray for others, believing wholeheartedly in God's ability to see her and her loved ones through any trial. Family was at the center of Carolyn's life. She was a regular presence at her children's and grandchildren's games, concerts, and performances, and she loved gathering for family celebrations, especially Christmas.

Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the joy of being together. Carolyn's enduring faith, her commitment to family, and her generosity in both time and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to recognize the following pallbearers: Stephan Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Tyler Johnson, and Zack Johnson (grandchildren); Hayden Johnson (great-grandchild); and Todd Lillard (family friend) Honorary pallbearers include Zane Johnson (grandchild); Steve Claiborne (family friend) These individuals held a special place in Carolyn's life and are honored to serve in her memory.
