Carolyn Virginia Jones, 80, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2021 in Denton, Texas. She was born on March 18, 1940 in Spruce Pine, North Carolina to Harold A. and Norma A. Flaitz.   She was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother William C. Flaitz.

Carolyn grew up in Alexandria, Virginia where she graduated from Groventon High School.  She began working for the Federal Government after high school and retired from FEMA after 34 years of service.  She married and had two children with Reginald B. Jones III.  Her adventurous side took her briefly to New Mexico where she enjoyed the beauty of the western sunsets.  She later returned to Virginia to watch over her parents and to be close to her beloved sister.  It was her love for her grandchildren that brought her to Texas.  She enjoyed a special bond with her great-granddaughter.

She is survived by her loving children, son Jeff Jones of Alexandria, Virginia; her daughter Susan Sullivan and husband Bill of Denton, Texas; her sister Dorothy Whitehead of Swan Point, Maryland; her three grandchildren James Sullivan, Sara Sullivan and Christina Taylor and husband Garrett of Denton, Texas; her great granddaughter Melody Taylor, her nephew Dave Whitehead and family, and niece Ann-Marie Flaitz.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Ghost Church in Issue, Maryland on April 22, 2021 at 10:30 AM.
