Cathy Lynette Phillips passed away peacefully in Denton, Texas, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. She was born in Amarillo, Texas, on September 28, 1949, to Jack and Addie Ruth Sherley. Cathy spent much of her childhood in Littlefield, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Addie Ruth Sherley; her husband, Tyson Phillips; and her granddaughter, Kesha Reed.
Cathy is survived by her sisters Peggy Demel and husband Billy, and Linda King; her daughters Tammy Lowery, Toni DeLeon, and Tori Beago and husband Chuck; and her beloved grandchildren Maegan Reed, Darian and Anthony DeLeon, Brynli Carder, Bryce, Brynlee, and Braden Beago. Cathy cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved working on puzzles, crafting, sewing, and—of course—shopping. In her youth, Cathy was an active member and advisor in the International Order of Rainbow for Girls. She had many close friends in high school and fondly remembered driving her friends up and down Main Street in her 1964 Mustang.
Cathy began her working years at the Lamb County Leader News during high school, then spent many years at American Cotton Growers. Later in life, she worked at Joann Fabrics, where she enjoyed helping others with their craft and sewing projects. Cathy will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, and the love she poured into her family and friends.
