Charlene Jackson, 68, of Denton, Texas passed away on August 10, 2024. She was born in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Helen Prentice.

I can remember growing up that birthdays and Christmas were always extra special in our home… because I knew she had to work extra hard to make it happen. My most fondest memory is when she stood in line for hours at a department store to get me a Cabbage Patch Kid. Or the time she drove like a crazy woman to make it to my marching band contest at UTA, when I looked up I saw her on the sideline cheering me on.

The love she had for her grandchildren was truly amazing to witness… of course I fell to the side, as she would always say "honey, you have been pushed down the line"… I never understood it until my grandbaby was born… I get it mom, you were right. Her grandchildren have wonderful memories of her, from getting to go "shopping in Mammy's living room" for school supplies, to homemade fudge and attendance at all of their school parties, to just being flat out spoiled by her!

When my dad left this world back in 2022 it was so heartbreaking for her.  These last couple of years have been very difficult for her health wise, but I know in my heart she is free of pain and sorrow now… she is back together again with my dad… and that gives me great comfort.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Michele Dooley, of Denton, Texas, grandchildren, Helen Sperry, Thomas Sperry, and bonus granddaughter Daphnie Bland, great grandchild Aniyah Michele Allgood, and bonus great grandchild Delilah Bland, and long-time friend/sister Deborah Carnes.

"Family isn't always blood. It's the people who want you in theirs".

She was preceded in death by her husband, B.W. Jackson, her mother and father, and sister, Bette Rogers.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 2:00 PM DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas.
