Charles Edward Bowen was born in St Louis, Missouri to Charles H. and Elizabeth Bowen on April 9, 1936.

He was raised in San Jose, CA.  He received a BS in biology and a BS in chemistry from San Jose State University and a PHD in biochemistry from the University of California, Davis.  He was a member of the biochemistry faculty at California State Polytechnic University Pomona from 1969 to 2005 .

Chuck had many interests including scuba diving, golf, fishing, photography, and painting.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Betty Bowen.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Ruth, his son Andrew, his daughter-in-law Joy, his grandsons Charlie and Tyler, and his brother Richard.

He will be laid to rest in Valhalla Cemetery in St Louis.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 2:00-4:00pm in the Bandera Room of the Club House at Robson Ranch, Denton, TX, 9428 Ed Robson Circle.
