She graduated with honors from Miami University in Ohio where she attained her Bachelor's in Psychology, and Bowling Green State University in Ohio where she completed her Master's in Clinical Psychology.

Cheryl met Bob Insley when she moved in next door and they shared a fateful bowl of popcorn. The rest is history and they were married in Bowling Green, Ohio on December 4, 1982. After moving to Texas in 1987, Cheryl attended the University of North Texas where she received her Master's in Accounting in 1990. She worked as a Certified Public Accountant for the rest of her career.

Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of almost 40 years, Bob Insley, also of Denton, Texas, and her four daughters, Alicia O'Brien and husband Tim; Katie Meador and her husband Ronnie; Laura Greer and her husband Rob; and Rachel Bollinger and her husband Andrew. Family meant everything to Cheryl and she enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her eight grandchildren who brought her endless joy – Kathryne and Quinn O'Brien; William, Henry, and John Meador; and Caroline, Thomas, and Arthur Greer.
