Christine Nora Shorney, 67, of Shady Shores, Texas passed away on January 10, 2022 at her home. She was born on September 17, 1954 in Antigo, Wisconsin to Robert and Marilyn (Biersdorf) Jantz.
Chris was an Air Force Brat who grew up around the world and around the US. As a child she lived in Turkey, Cape Cod, Ma, Biloxi, Ms, Newburgh, NY, Syracuse NY, and Sacramento, Ca. When asked where she grew up Chris most often answered that she grew up in California as she attended Middle School through 11 th grade in Sacramento.
Chris graduated from Cicero High School, Cicero NY, in 1972. She attended the Binghamton General Hospital School of Nursing, Binghamton, NY, and Graduated from Onondaga Community College, Syracuse NY, as a Registered Nurse in 1975. Chris and Art were married on June 7 th , 1975 in North Syracuse, NY. Art and Chris had a loving marriage for 46 years.
She worked as an Oncology Nurse and Staff Nurse in multiple lead positions for 10 years. Once her children were born, she put her Nursing career on hold to focus on staying home and raising her children.
Her passions in life were her family and her faith. Our family participates in sports from youth ages on to playing soccer in college. There is no bigger sports fan and supporter of her children and grandchildren on earth! Attending soccer, basketball, baseball, and football games was a weekly event for our family and a great joy for Chris.
Chris had a strong relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a scholar in God's Word. Art and Chris are members of GracePointe Church and involved in multiple Bible Studies. Chris was very involved in Bible Study Fellowship for twelve years as both an attendee and as a BSF Group Leader
She is survived by her husband, Art Shorney, daughter, Jessica Casburn and her husband Rob of Prosper, Texas, sons; Benjamin Shorney and wife Cynthia of Justin, Texas, and Jon Shorney of Denton, sisters, Dawn Butler and husband Pat, of Central Square, New York, and Jean Fisher of Nash, Texas, and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and brother, Greg Jantz.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 12:30 PM, until 2:00 PM at Grace Pointe Church at 3000 E. McKinney St, Denton, Tx. 76209. Funeral services will begin at the church following the visitation at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas.
